Dream Big
My dream is to go to college for Film. And it scares the crap out of me.
This week I have been taking a writing class in the city. It's called "Finding Your Way in the World of Writing." To be honest, I'm not sure what I am getting out of it. But I know it will help me at some point. I have a sheet of places that I can try to get short stories published and a bunch of encouragement to keep writing. Once again, I am forced to face the sad truth of rejection. My teacher said she had 55 rejections before her novel was published. We read about another guy who faced 250 rejections before he was published, and he hung up all 250 rejections slips on his bedroom walls. It's insane.
A few days ago, I received my first rejection slip--or rejection e-mail, rather. It sucked. But I got over it, and I pretty much expected it. I was publicly published today on this blog through the place I'm taking a class at. It's basically a "If you send us something and it's not totally inappropriate, you get published!" Woohoo! But, hey, it's a start. I am officially out there for everyone (the small group of people that go on the blog mostly to see their own post) to see.

Yum!
The first night of summer brings countless possibilities.
You can take a stroll around the lake, eat fresh fruit and tasty new treats,
and get sand in your shoes. Or you can do all of those things in one night.
For a successful evening you should start at Yum! Bakery. The veggie sandwich—avocado,
cucumber, sprouts, tomato, spinach, cheddar and muenster with honey mustard on
whole grain—makes healthy choices easier. With so many different sandwich and
salad choices, you’re bound to find something healthy and delicious.
If you haven’t said “Yum!” yet, maybe you should try
the pizza. My brother gasps after his first bite and says, “It tastes like a
thousand cheese gods just went into my mouth.” Every bite drips with fresh mozzarella.
But the best part came after meal. The cupcakes.
Moist chocolate cake surrounds a gooey marshmallow filling—like a sophisticated
Hostess Cupcake. The cake crumbles in your fingers, begging you to eat it
faster. Enjoy.
